Front-End Web Developer
Location: Washington D.C. Area (Local Candidates Only, must be US Citizen)
Description

This position will work with both internal and external customers to bridge the gap between graphical design and technical implementation. The ideal candidate will have excellent written and oral skills, combined with deep technical knowledge of robust web design, to develop complex, interactive and database-driven web applications. This individual must also be highly capable of meeting task goals with minimal oversight and apply cutting-edge/new technologies in order to create solid results.
Responsibilities
- Take an active role in translating UI/UX design to actual code, and producing visual elements of the application using modern graphical design patterns.
- Pull requirements from written specifications, customer descriptions and various other requirements gathering methods, and employ pre-established guidelines; all while thinking and creating “outside-of-the-box” solutions.
- Ensure the technical feasibility of proposed UI/UX designs using Microsoft Web Development best practices applied to Internet of Things (IoT) devices.
- Implement and advocate for the use of standards based and semantic HTML and CSS to solve design problems.
- Propose new options or methodologies for web application structure, design and development using HTML5, and CSS3, JavaScript and C# with IoT devices.
- Work with internal and external customers to bridge the gap between graphical design and technical implementation.
- Build reusable code and libraries and optimize for speed and scalability.
- Ensure all user input is validated prior to submission to the back-end.
- Follow internal procedures for managing and annotating code, updating test and production servers, and creating proper documentation for configuration control.
- Provide support for existing web pages including bug fixing and enhancement requests providing critical suggestions for fixes and improvements.
- Follow approved project schedules and ensure all timelines are met.
Required Skills
- Must have a firm, proven understanding of HTML5, CSS, Responsive Web Design, and JavaScript/jQuery, to include a comprehensive working knowledge of asynchronous JavaScript and XML/J (AJAX) web development techniques.
- Advanced understanding of current JavaScript libraries and frameworks, with mastery-level skill in jQuery/jQuery UI.
- Firm understanding of Web Services technology and standards, to include, Representational State Transfer (REST) and Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP).
- Familiar with current Development and Browser-based debugging tools.
- In-depth understanding of the entire web development process (design, development and deployment).
- Ability to mock-up and create designs, concepts, and sample layouts for the web.
- Solid understanding of MVC / MVVM design patterns.
- Basic knowledge of image authoring tools, to be able to crop, resize, or perform small adjustments on an image.
- Basic Microsoft SQL Server 2012 or newer skills to include queries, stored procedures, joins, relational database concepts and triggers.
- Able to effectively communicate with the creative team and clients.
- Solve problems and adapt quickly to new web design and application trends.
Desired Skills
- Solid working knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming to include multiple server-side languages/syntax (C#, PHP, Microsoft Razor syntax).
- Extensive use and knowledge of Visual Studio 2015 or newer with proven performance using this tool and version control software such as Team Foundation Server.
- Advanced Microsoft SQL Server 2012 or newer skills.
- Advanced user of all Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and Word.
- Experience with building modular front-end code leveraging REST-based services.
- Familiarity with web and Section 508/accessibility standards.
Qualifications
- Candidates shall possess 5-plus years of proven work experience and/or a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical & Computer Engineering, or related field.
